Blackthorn Nursery in Spring – Jon Evans, 25 Jan 2017 Blackthorn Nursery in Hampshire was a popular specialist nursery until the owners retired a few years ago, and turned it into their own private garden. Jon Evans had special access, and visited numerous times over several years to photograph the magical atmosphere of the place in spring. Linda Smith showed us how to create a damp environment for moisture-loving plants. She gave us practical ideas about making a water-retentive bed, and what plants would thrive for a varied display year round, in sun or shade. In this time she has been the Membership Secretary for two spells totaling 8 years. After this long and conscientious service, she feels that is now time to stand down and let someone else take a turn in the role.
